The Anonymous (2013-15)

In August 1967, the British Hong Kong government put wanted circular orders on newspapers, with mug shots of law-breaking suspects, but the government didn’t provide their names. Besides, many unnamed citizens were arrested and imprisoned without a proper court order. As time goes by, some of them become government principal officials, and some remains anonymous.

I juxtapose their portrait with quotes on marble plates. The 1967 Riots Leftists are described as “villains” by the authority, people never commemorate “villains”, however, when the ruling party changes, villains can be heroes, and the contrary of their behaviour illustrates the irony of politics.
